She is well trained in managing acute withdrawal from substance use disorders. She completed her Pediatric residency with the U.S. Air Force at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. DeGroot has been practicing since 1990. She spent 4 years overseas with the U.S. Air Force taking care of children of servicemen and women in both inpatient and outpatient settings, followed by an additional year at Maxwell Air Force Base in Maryland. She then separated from the Air Force and moved to Pennsylvania where she practiced inpatient and outpatient pediatrics for 18 years before relocating to Texas. Dr. DeGroot is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and provides a full range of pediatric care from newborn until high school graduation, including well exams, sports physicals, and acute care visits. Dr. DeGroot is married and resides in Katy, Texas. She is the mother of twins, both of whom are in college.
